Hello Dog Lovers!  I have to warn you that I am pretty giddy right now…today’s guest is someone that I couldn’t wait to have on the show!  With us is Dr. Jean Dodds who has been a veterinarian for more than 50 years, graduating when women were pioneers.  She has dedicated her career to helping animals stay healthy, thrive and have long lives.  Dr. Dodds is experienced and widely published in clinical and research fields of hematology, immunology, endocrinology, nutrition and animal welfare.  She is the co-author of two popular books, The Canine Thyroid Epidemic and Canine Nutrigenomics.

Why don’t we start with what does the term wholesome nutrition mean to you?

For optimal health, should we be providing homemade diets to our dogs or are there some commercial foods that you recommend?

What are the optimal percentages of the macronutrients should we be feeding a healthy adult dog? Proteins, fats and carbs?

How do we make sure we are feeding a complete and balanced diet?

Do you believe in feeding a variety of meals/ingredients?

What do you recommend for pet parents on a budget?

Can you speak to food allergies and food intolerances?  What’s the difference?

Why is there so much confusing information out there about what actually is best to feed your dog?  How do we navigate all of the false marketing claims?

Many people don't feel confident and are afraid they will end up doing more harm than good by trying to feed fresh, wholesome foods...  not only what to feed, but how much to feed.  What do you say to them?

What are your thoughts on feeding animal proteins vs plant-based proteins?

Dr. Dodds, where can everyone find out more information about you?
