Playing Podcasts on your Computer

The most obvious way to listen to a podcast is to play it directly through this website on your computer. Just navigate to the podcast page, choose an episode, look for the play button, and listen. As long as you have speakers or headphones connected up, this is an easy method.

Of course, the disadvantage is that you're stuck sitting in front of your computer.

Listening to Podcasts on your Smartphone

The most convenient way to listen to a podcast is through a mobile device, and there are a range of devices that can do it. First off, if you have a smartphone, you have an ideal podcast listening platform right in your pocket.

Use the Apple Podcasts app if you're on an iPhone or and Ipad - it's on there already, just search for the little purple icon. Otherwise, if you're on Android or Windows, download a podcasting app such as Google Play, Pandora, Stitcher or Spotify. Then, subscribe to a show in there, and away you go.

How to Listen to Podcasts in the Car

The car is the most common place to listen to a podcast. It makes sense - it was always a big radio listening space, and Podcasting is the new radio.  The average commute time in the U.S. is 28 minutes and that’s why all of the our pawdcasts are under that…short and sweet!

But, how do you listen to a podcast in the car? First is via Bluetooth connection. Most modern cars are set up to connect to your phone so that you can make hands-free calls. That same connection can also play audio from your phone. So, connect via Bluetooth as normal, and then play something from your Podcast app on your phone. It should play over your speakers.

No Bluetooth? Try a Cable

Next, if that doesn’t work, then an even more common car feature is an ‘aux in’ or a ‘line in’ port. It looks just like a headphone jack and all you need is something like a 3.5mm to 3.5 mm cable to connect your phone to your car.

How to Listen to a Podcast on a Smart Speaker

I’m sure you’re familiar with the smart speakers that have started coming out of some of the biggest companies around. Google has the Google Home, Amazon has the Echo and more are being announced every month.

Any Bluetooth speaker will allow you to listen to material from your smartphone, so both the Home and the Echo can play that way. But, the Echo in particular is great in that it ties in with TuneIn Radio. Tell your Echo, "Alexa, play Wag Out Loud podcast on TuneIn" and the Echo will automatically play the latest episode. It's so easy!
